Colonel Blood attempts to steal the Crown Jewels
Colonel Thomas Blood (1628-1680), Irish soldier and adventurer, notorious for his audacious attempt to steal the Crown Jewels after befriending the Deputy Keeper at the Tower of London. Blood and his accomplices escaped with St. Edward's Crown and the orb but were caught and arrested before getting very far. He was pardoned for his crime by King Charles II
