German artist at the Front during WWI
An artist, somewhere along the German line in France or Belgium during World War One, paints the scene in front of him. Several German soldiers, some in pickelhaube helmets stand around posing and the surrounding ground looks typically muddy. Numerous artists recorded daily events and battles along the Western Front, many working as special artists for illustrated magazines back at home
