King Edward VII, when Prince of Wales, in training as a Volunteer in camp at the Curragh in Co. Kildare. In August 1861, Queen Victoria and the Prince Consort went to Ireland to visit him, although the subsequent revelation that the Prince has been introduced to a prostitute while at the camp was said to have contributed towards the Prince Consort's illness and untimely death in December that year.
