May Meyrick, later Countess of Kinnoull
May Meyrick, later Countess of Kinnoull, eldest daughter of famed nightclub owner, Kate Meyrick pictured before her marriage to George Hay, 14th Earl of Kinnoull in 1927. Kate Evelyn Ma Meyrick (1875 -1933), an Irish business woman and Queen of the London nightclub scene. She ran "43", a late-night jazz club at 43 Gerrard Street in Soho, was prosecuted several times for breaching licensing laws and went to prison for bribing policemen to ignore these breaches. Her book Secrets of the 43 was banned on its publication in 1933. Three of her daughters married peers of the realm. May was involved in the family business, running the Little Club in Golden Square ffor her mother, as well as the Riviera Club in Maidenhead
