British Automatic Alarm Bell Company wedge alarm
Stainless steel wind-up wedge door intruder alarm made by the British Automatic Alarm Bell Co Ltd. but manufactured in Germany. The mechanism, similar to a bicycle bell, is attached to a wedge which attaches to the floor/carpet under a door. The alarm is set by winding similar to an alarm clock. If the door is disturbed with force, the sensor pin strikes the bell and rings with an internal hammer. This model was popular with travellers who regularly stayed in hotels which were not always secure. The British Automatic Alarm Bell Company was dissolved in 1908
