The Imperial Disinfector
The Imperial Disinfector made by Royal Doulton of Burslem and filled with Tatters Imperial Disinfectant. The pot was placed in the water cistern which when flushed, released a chemical solution around the toilet bowl which cleaned and disinfected the bowl, keeping it sanitary for longer. The Imperial Disinfector was mentioned in the November 1, 1895 publication "The Sanitary Record" as being fail safe in keeping water closets and urinals safe from sewer gasses"
