Padbury's Indispensable automatic musical page turner

Padbury's Patent Indispensable Music Leaf Turner. This rare antique Victorian mechanical music leaf / page turner dates to the mid 1880s. Made by R. H. Padbury, 24, Mildmay Grove, London, N. it is an ingenious instrument that allows the hands free automatic turning of pages of sheet music, meaning any musician can play their instrument seamlessly across several pages of music score without scrabbling for the edges of the paper. According to the sales catalogue of the time, it "can be fixed to the Piano, Organ, Harmonium, or ordinary music stand, in an instant. The music can be set up without loss of time, and all that remains to be done to turn the music at the proper moment is to touch a small key with the finger, or depress a pedal by the foot... It likewise has the advantage of being folded in a small compass so that it may be carried in the ordinary music roll."
