The Bells, by Leopold Lewis, starring H B Irving
The Bells, by Leopold Lewis, first produced at the Lyceum Theatre, London, November 1871. Pictured here is Harry Brodribb Irving (1870-1919) in the role of Mathias. He was the son of Sir Henry Irving, who was identified with the role of Mathias more than with any other. The tour of which this production was part also included The Lyons Mail and Charles The First. One distant venue was the Londesborough Theatre, Scarborough, North Yorkshire, August 1908(?)
