Colonel Newcome adapted by Michael Morton (1864 - 11 January 1931) from W. M. Thackeray's novel "The Newcomes" (1853-5). First produced at His Majesty's Theatre in London, on 29th May 1906. The artist is Chas (Charles) A. Buchel (1872-1950). H. Beerbohm Tree's Co. touring to the Lyceum in Edinburgh on 24th September 1906. The Colonel, played by Tree, was the novel's most loveable character. He is shown in the uniform of the Bengal Light Cavalry at Lady Fareham's ball
