First produced at the Apollo Theatre, London on 9th January 1913. Touring to Gaiety Theatre in Hastings from 26th October 1914. "The Charming Irish Comedy" The harp and the wolfhound, of course, represent Ireland. ~~ A confidence trickster convinces a small Irish town that a statue ought to be erected to one of its natives who is claimed to have led the independence movement of a South American country. Birmingham turned the play into a novel the same year, and dedicated it to the star, Charles Hawtrey
