In Holy (!) Russia by Lilian Clare Cassidy (Mrs. J. Rice Cassidy). First produced at the Prince's Theatre, Preston, 29th May 1905. The exclamation mark in the title reflects the fact that in melodrama the Tsar's Russia was often the setting for scenes of cruelty. Mrs Rice Cassidy herself is shown here with the further caption: "Act 4 scene 2. I have failed in duty as in love'"
