The Kiss in the Railway Train, by Watkin Williams & G H Mack
Railways - The Kiss in the Railway Train music hall song of 1879 by Watkin Williams and G. H. Mackney. Music Hall songs relied on the double entendre and performers could make seemingly innocent expressions very blue with a simple wink or wriggle. This is a typical comic Music Hall song, it describes a situation in a railway carriage on a train to Brighton. The young lady was travelling to the coast when she met a gentleman in the carriage. She was distracted by his good looks, most especially his handsome moustache! As the train entered a tunnel she felts a strange sensation on her lips and was surprised to discover that the gentleman's moustache was attached to her lips! He turned out to be a thief who stole her belongings
