The text on the inside of the lid reads, "This Diamond Was Stolen From The Regalia In The Tower Of London. For Further Information See The Marriages of Mayfair F. W. Bolam's Co." One of the crown jewels was indeed stolen in the play, a typical incident in late Drury Lane melodrama
