Promotional postcard for Topsy and Eva by Catherine Chisholm Cushing music R. and V. Duncan. First produced in England at the Hippodrome, Lewisham, 20th August and Gaiety Theatre, 4th October 1928. A musical version of "Uncle Tom's Cabin". English theatrical manager and impresario C. B. Cochran saw it in Chicago and noted "It must have been one of the freaks of the theatrical business. By all the rules it shouldn't run a week, but it made a fortune". ("The Secrets of a Showman" (1925) p. 386
