The High Level Bridge, Newcastle Upon Tyne
The High Level Bridge, Newcastle Upon Tyne. Designed by Robert Stephenson and built between 1847 and 1849, it is the first major example of a wrought iron tied arch or bow-string girder bridge. Armstrong's Swing Bridge and the Tyne Bridge (opened in 1928) can bee seen beyond the High Level Bridge
