Statue of Boulton, Watt and Murdoch, Birmingham
The newly gilded statue of Matthew Boulton, James Watt and William Murdoch, outside the House of Sport on Broad Street, Birmingham. The statue is in bronze with a gold finish, and is by William Bloye. It was unveiled in 1956. The three men depicted were pioneers of the industrial revolution in the late 18th century, and they are shown discussing engine plans. The statue has two local nicknames: The Golden Boys, and The Carpet Salesmen
