A Sherman amphibious tank at Slapton Sands, Torcross, Devon, serving as a war memorial to the 749 American servicemen who lost their lives on 28 April 1944, practising for the D Day landings during Operation Tiger. The salvage operation was financed by a local businessman, and was completed in 1984
