Betula pubescens (synonym Betula alba) - commonly known as downy birch, moor birch, white birch, European white birch or hairy birch. Collected from a tree in Salt Hill Road, Fishbourne, near Chichester, Sussex. 1. Mature leaves and fruit. 2. Male and female catkins on twig. 3. Back view of female catkin (x16). 4. Front view of female catkin showing flowers (x17). 5. Lower part of catkin showing scales in position (x7). 6. Male scale and anthers (x13). 7.
