Rose and Pansy Wreath " woolwork design
Rose and Pansy Wreath - pink, red and white roses and purple pansies. A hand coloured Berlin Woolwork pattern produced in Berlin by Hertz and Wegener (no 8987) circa 1840. Only the finest patterns were hand coloured. The first Berlin Woolwork patterns were printed in Berlin in 1804 and were introduced into England shortly afterwards, reaching their peak of popularity in about the 1830s
