View of London from Greenwich - The scene shows the Queen's House and part of Sir Christopher Wren's Greenwich Hospital which was begun in 1696. Painted before 1729 when work was begun on Queen Mary's Block, the eastern part of the Hospital which completed the symmetrical design of the building. On the hill on the extreme left can be seen the Royal Observatory, and in the far distance is St Paul's Cathedral
