Aesthetic maiden
A fancy dress costume idea from 1884 - an aesthetic maiden. The costume comprises a loose flowing half skirt and a half high classical bodice with ribbon belt around the waist. The sleeves are loose and drooping and fasten with three buttons on the outside of the shoulders. The best colourings are apparently dark blue, serge and sunflowers, white with daffodils, sickly green (!) and passion flowers, terracotta with gold, light blue and claret
