 : Ampulla and Anointing Spoon

Ampulla and Anointing Spoon

The Ampulla or Golden Eagle contains the holy oil with which the monarch is anointed at the Coronation. The oil is poured through a hole in the beak into the Anointing Spoon which is of silver gilt. The Chalice, Paten and Winevessel are used in the Coronation Communion. The Chalice and Paten are carried before the monarch in the procession by bishops, and afterwards placed on the altar
