Leaflet produced by the Anti-Bearing Rein Association advocating the humane treatment of horses by avoiding the use of the bearing or hame rein. Page shows injuries to a horse due to the bearing reign in Fig. 1 with problems caused including displacement or partial dislocation of the upper cartilages of the trachea, pressure on the jaw and tongue and constant tension of the cervical ligament. Fig. 2 shows a horse with ligament and muscles in normal condition
