Arthur Ranc (1831 - 1908), Duel fighting, French politician and writer. Implicated in a plot against Napoleon III, imprisoned for belonging to a secret society and deported to Algeria for his anti-imperialist views. Returned to Paris again in 1859 only to leave, dramatically, by balloon during the siege of Paris to join Gambetta
