Assassination attempt on Napoleon Bonaparte

Friedrich Staps, a pastor's son from Erfurt, attempted to kill the French emperor with a knife which he had concealed inside his jacket as Napoleon was holding the review on the steps of the Parade Court at Schonbrunn, Vienna. Staps was apprehended and executed by firing squad on 17th October 1809
