Bede finishing his translation of the bible
Bede (673-735) - A monk at the Northumbrian monastry of Saint Peter who was the first person to write a history of Britain. Here he is shown on his deathbed dictating the translation of the bible to another monk so that it could be finished before he died. He died just a few minutes after the translation was complete
