Benjamin Raspail

Benjamin Raspail (1823 - 1899), French painter, engraver, politician and monoped, son of Major Francois-Vincent Raspail (1794-1878). As member of the conseil for Seine for the republican left, Raspail proposed the law, on 21 May 1880, which made 14 July a French national holiday in commemoration of the storming of the Bastille
