Blinded and wounded soliders in France 1919

Many soliders were blinded and lost limbs in World War One, incapacited from following their pre-war callings. It became necessary, therefore, to train them for other kinds of work, this drawing shows soldiers that were blinded and had amputated hands being helped by women teachers in a knitting workshop at an institution situated at Neuilly-sur-Seine, France, for "professional re-education", Permanent Blind Relief War Fund founded by Mr. and Mrs George A Kessler, of New York
