Cartier Visits Hochelaga
A man bends on one knee with his hands outstretched, with various French soldiers standing is armour behind him. From his place of focus, and lack of armour, this could be Jacques Cartier, though another man standing beside him in similar dress makes this less certain. The man is kneeling before the chief of Hochelaga village, which was populated by St. Lawrence Iroquoians, as various villagers gathered stare at the European explorers
