Cartoon, Stage Morality -- a satirical comment on theatre censorship, at the time carried out by the Lord Chamberlain (continuing until 1968). On the left, a dancing girl's costume and legs are measured, to find that too much bare flesh is on display. On the right, an audience enjoy a production of Bluebeard, an operetta by Offenbach, starring the popular French singer and actress, Hortense Schneider
