Columbian Exposition's tallest attraction, designed and built by George Washington Gale Ferris Jr. The ferris wheel named the Chicago Wheel, was driven by steam engine of one thousand horse-power, at a height of 80.4 metres (264 ft). With thirty-six pendulum cars, each seating forty passengers, carrying 1, 440 people at its height
