Colonel F. Carneiro de Campos: Prisoner of War

Colonel Frederico Carneiro de Campos, was imprisoned by Paraguayan soldiers shortly before the initial act and declaration of war by Paraguay. He sits in a cell in the fortress of Humaita at a table, resting his head on his knuckles. He eventually died there before the end of the war, due to ill-treatment and hunger
