: Davis Cup doubles match, Wilding's last

Davis Cup doubles match, Wilding's last

The last competitive lawn tennis match played by Captain Anthony Frederick Wilding, New Zealand tennis player and four times Wimbledon Champion (1910-1913). He partnered Norman Brookes in New York for the Davis Cup, but the matches were overshadowed by the outbreak of war in Europe. They were the last matches to be played publicly by Wilding who died near Neuve Chapelle, France on 9 May 1915 while fighting in the Battle of Aubers Ridge
