The death of Commander Lamy (1858-1900)

French Officer Amedee-Francois Lamy is killed at the battle of Kousseri, near Lake Chad, West Africa. The French claim a decisive victory over the Sudanese warlord Rabih az-Zubayr(who is also killed) and his troops, and Lamy is postumously honoured when the capital of the new French territory is named Chad Fort-Lamy
