Duke of Windsor marries Wallis Simpson in France

Wallis Simpson and Edward formerly King Edward VIII, married on 3 June 1937 at the Chteau de Cande, France, lent to them by French millionaire Charles Bedaux. Wallis wearing a long- skirted cocktail dress in Wallis blue crepe, with high neck-line, worn with fitted long sleeved jacket, her hat was a tiny skull-cap of blue straw with turned-back halo brim of blue tulle and bandeau of blue and pink ostrich feathers. Photographed here with (left) Mr. H Rogers, the Duke of Winsors's host and (right) Major E.d Metcalfe, his best man. Edward abdicated the throne in December 1936 in order to marry Wallis
