Friedrich I (Barbarossa), Holy Roman Emperor from 1155. He drowned in a river near Antioch while on a Crusade, but as depicted here there is a legend that he is sleeping with his knights in a cave under a mountain, and that when the ravens cease to fly around the mountain he will awake and restore Germany to its ancient greatness
