Friedrich von der Trenck, Prussian officer and writer

Friedrich von der Trenck (Frederick Baron Trenck, 1726-1794), Prussian officer, adventurer and author. In 1753 he was confined and loaded with 68 pounds weight of iron and chains in a dungeon at Magdeburg, by order of the King of Prussia, for political reasons. He was released in 1763. After all this, he got caught up in the French Revolution, was accused of espionage, and was guillotined
