Giuseppe Fieschi with his infernal machine

Corsican criminal Giuseppe Marco Fieschi (1790 - 1836) conspired with two members of the Societe des Droits de l'Homme, Morey and Pepin, and created an "infernal machine", a volley gun, with barrels to be fired simultaneously at the intended target of King Louis Philippe of France. Not all the barrels fired, but the gun still killed 18 people, although not the King. Fieschi was convicted and guillotined in Paris. He is labelled here Gerard as on arrest he gave a false name
