Front cover of The Graphic with a photograph of Captain Charles Fryatt, master of the steamer ship Brussels, who in March 1915 attempted to ram a German U-Boat he believed was attacking his vessel. In 1916 he was captured by the Germans and subsequently tried and executed for his alleged attack. The act provoked great anger and protest from the British government. The Graphic accompanies the portrait with text urging readers to remember the captain on the first anniversary of his death
