Great Wheel at the Empire of India Exhibition, Earl's Court

The steam-powered Great Wheel or also know as Gigantic Wheel, for the Empire of India Exhibition at Earls Court, London. Opened to the public in 1895, the enormous ferris wheel took 20 minutes to revolve with 40 cars each taking the capacity of 30 passengers. At the beginning of the 20th century, the novelty began to wear off and the wheel slipped into unprofitability and was finally demolished in 1907
