Louis Daguerre's Diorama theatre

Louis Daguerre (1787 - 1851) used the principle of the Diorama theatre to present two large scale tableaux's. Changing the direction of light placed on these interior and exterior paintings, Daguerre had the ability to transform the appearance of the scene for audiences. The tableaux would remain stationary as the circular auditorium would revolve from one scene to the other, creating a realistic illusion.
