SIR EDMUND YEAMANS WALCOTT HENDERSON (1821 - 1896) From 1847 to 1860, Henderson was at the head of the penal colony in Western Australia, then returned to England to be appointed to the chairmanship of the board of directors of convict prisons, before being made Chief Commissioner of the London Metropolitan Police (1869 to 1886).
