NAVAL COMBAT, 1758

Naval combat : the British ship Monmouth defeats the French man-of-war Foudroyant off Cartagena, on the Mediterranean coast of Spain. The Foudroyant gave its name to a Royal Navy vessel of the same name launched in 1798, which served Nelson as his flagship from 6 June 1799 until the end of June 1800
