A London pawnbroker on a Saturday night. Men and women receiving money temporarily in exchange for there belongings. The pawnbrokers are examining goods for genuine hallmarks and giving tickets to the customers, so they can come back on a agreed time limit for the exchange for the cash lent plus an agreed amount of interest. At the beginning and mid 20th century the pawnbrokers was a common place for the poor
