Princess Ena of Battenberg
Victoria Eugenia of Battenberg, always called Ena, was born in Scotland on October 24, 1887, the only daughter of Prince Henry of Battenberg and Princess Beatrice, herself one of Queen Victoria's daughters. Ena married King Alfonso XIII of Spain in 1906. The couple had six children, two of whom, including the eldest son, suffered from haemophilia. In 1931, elections voted overwhelmingly for a republic and the royal couple went their separate ways in exile
