R101 British Airship Accident 1930
The rigid British airship R101 set out from Cardington on a flight to India. Lord Thomas, Minister of Air; Sir Sefton Brancker, Director of Civil Aviation and the Britain's greatest airship experts were aboard. A few hours later the vessel was a mass of broken metal just outside Beauvais, France. Photograph showing the contrast between the airship in fligt and its wreckage shell, with only six survivors
