 : The Re-burial of Leisler

The Re-burial of Leisler

The body of Jacob Leisler being reburied in the yard of the Dutch Reform Church. Leisler had led a rebellion in New York against the Dominion regime in place, and had been executed when the rebellion failed. A priest walks up the church steps, followed by pallbearers with Leislers coffin; several men have attended the funeral. Leisler was executed in 1690 but his estate was not returned to his family nor Leisler himself reburied until 1698
