The river and citadel at Huy

Sixteen miles south-west of Liege, on the Meuse, stands the picturesque and fortified town of Huy. Here is shown the rock-hewn citadel, and the medieval church which stands on the banks of the Meuse. During World War I, while the bombardment of Liege was proceeding, Uhlans advanced on the bridge at Huys but were beaten back by the civic guard. A few days later a strong force of German cavalry seized not only Huy, but several other points on the west border region
