Stephenson's No. 2 Killingworth Locomotive

One of George Stephenson's early locomotives made at Killingworth Colliery, near Newcastle upon Tyne. This locomotive was named Blucher after the Prussian General Gebhard Leberecht von Blucher, whose speedy assistance helped defeat Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo. Part of a series of experimental designs, the Blucher locomotive was the first to incorperate flanged wheels, helping to keep it on the tracks
