Svante Stensson Sture before Queen Margaretha

Svante Stensson Sture, also known as Svante Sture the Younger (1517-1567), on his knees before his former fiancee, Margaretha Lejonhufvid (1516-1551). By this time she was married to King Gustav I of Sweden, who stands between them asking what is happening. Margaretha replies quickly that Sture is asking for the hand of her sister Martha, and Sture has no choice but to go ahead with the unwanted marriage
